UPDATE NAV ROLLUP GUIDE (Client & Service)

This guide will demonstrate how to update your NAV client and service tier to the next Cumulative Update.

You will need the Microsoft Dynamics NAV DVD.

Before anything can be updated all clients must be closed with the computer switched on and services switched off. It is also a good idea to take a backup of your database before continuing (see our SQL backup guide)

Updating NAV is very straight forward and only requires copying and pasting files from one directory to another. This needs to be done to both the Service files and the Role Tailored Client files.

Please be aware that you may need to be an administrator to copy into your program files.

Service (This may be located on a different server)

To update the service, all services must first be switched off.

Note: Make sure you take a backup of your services folder as some client updates can reset your CRONUS services.

The files can be located in: “NAV.DVD”\ServiceTier\program files\Microsoft Dynamics NAV\90\Service” (See below).

Copy all of the files apart from “CustomSettings”.

Paste the files into the directory: “C:\Program Files\Microsoft Dynamics NAV\90\Service” and replace all (See below).

Role Tailored Client

To update the client, make sure that it is closed before copying the files.

These files can be located in: “NAV.DVD”\RoleTailoredClient\program files\Microsoft Dynamics NAV\90\RoleTailored Client (See below).

Copy all of the files.

Paste the files into the directory “C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Dynamics NAV\90\RoleTailored Client” and replace all (See below).

The update process is now complete.
